Insanity, Day 2

Jan 16, 2011 18:38

Day 2 began with sore legs and a stiff back. If it wasn't for this workout program, I would call it a day and prepare for the next one. However, I committed myself to doing Insanity, and I'm not going to wuss out after the first day.

Day 2 of Insanity is Plyometric Cardio Circuit. On my first day of the full workout, I'm already seeing a pattern. There are three sets of workouts for about one minute each followed by about a 30 second break. Following the break is the same three sets, but they are supposed to be done at a more intense pace each time. After the third time doing that set, we are introduced to a new group of three sets.

I don't think I've ever done plyometrics before, but this includes a lot of jumping. Jumping really does a number on a guy. I didn't completely finish each exercise, and when I would take a premature break, I would be completely out of breath. I knew this was going to be intense, but I wasn't prepared for this level of intensity.

I'm pretty excited to be taken out of my comfort zone with this program. I was getting too used to my regular schedule of running 3-4 miles, or my own pushups-squats-lunges circuit. Getting out of my comfort zone is going to make me have to push through or quit, and well, by blogging my experience, I don't think I can quit now in front of my tens of readers.

So, two days down, 58 more to go.
