Calculuss II final went ok. There were two problems that I chose to leave until the end because I knew that they were difficult and would eat up all my time if I did them first.
I went through the rest of the test with some stumbles here and there, but nothing that I couldn't figure out. I know they focus more on the methodology of arriving at your answer rather than the correct one, so I'm hoping that carries me through. I know my methodology was correct, but my answers may not have been.
The two problems that caused me great consternation:
- One was a cylindrical gas tank buried underground laying on its side. It was filled so that top 2 feet of it was empty. You had to find the volume of gas that had been pumped out and then also find the work done in pumping gas into a car with it's gas cap two feet above the ground. I still have no clue how to do it.
- The second problem I should have known but by then my brain was fried. It was a differential problem. You had to find the solution to the equation xy'+y=y^2 such that y(1)=-1. I remembered doing homework problems like this, but I just couldn't (and still don't) remember how to do them.
Both problems were worth 8 points. The entire exam is out of 100 points, so that was quite the chunk off the total. What a waste.
Now, I'm studying for my genome class. That's tomorrow at 8am! SO early!
