I'm new here & in LJ as well. I got an offer from UCL for economics for 07 entry yay!! nice to meet you all (hopefully my A level grades will make it >_< *fingers crossed*) does anyone have tips for applying for accomodation? seems that they randomly allocate you to the halls if you choose self catered ones...sigh ( Read more... )

The "max amount your willing to spend" does factor into which hall they'd allocate you in.

200 pounds? you know it's rated per week, right? If you're willing to pay 200 pounds per week, you can get yourself a nice decent single apartment in a good area. Decent, but perhaps not spectacular because London housing can be a big sham. (I'd check gumtree.com to get some idea of the housing market here first.) There's also this place which should be opening up soon. It's actually right around James Lighthill House. But in regards to UCL student residences... )

haha i am noob when it comes to accomodation :p bear with me.
i've been to john dodgson, it's a nice place though my current boarding school is much better :P i really wanna stay in halls near the economics dept cos that's the course i will be taking. so far john is the best..but then again i can be wrong...there are halls i'm still unaware of. (geez this feels harder than choosing the 6 unis!)

i prefer living with undergraduates around people my age (: geeez that must be hard on you living with undergrads! by the way how are the bathrooms? are they shared with both sexes? i heard you have to pay around 1.60 pounds for using washing machine? that's expensive!

by the way i must admit nido is v v attractive! i bet there are loads of people booking their places there already i reckon? how do you go about applying for accomodation there & what's the price range?

what course are you taking & where did you take your undergrad course?
