i study spanish and commute in from essex. i do find it hard. i haven't made that many friends and i think you do miss out on quite a bit. I don't really go clubbing because i dont like the idea of coming back on the tube on my own really late at night. But then i spose sometimes the time to yourself reading is quite nice xx

I thought I missed out on a lot, but when I moved out, I was expecting there to be so much more, and it seems like in reality, there hasn't been.

Yeah the prob with missing the last train would put a downer on a good nite. How long have you been going to UCL?

since september. There are pros and cons. The main pro is that it is so much cheaper.Travel is dicounted for students so it costs me like £550 for travel for the twenty weeks i have to travel in whereas some of the ppl on my course are paying £400 a month for their catered acommmodation. So more money is good but what annoys me is that some days i have like a lesson at ten in the morning then nothing til like 4 in the afternoon and i havent got anywhere to go. I just spend like hours and hours in the library.I know it will be good for me in the long run but sometimes i get soo fed up.The thing is though if id made more friends theyd prob invite me to the halls more often but i think where i go home i dont go out so much so haven't really got any close buddies, but maybe i'm just a little shy and you will make loads of friends once you get there.

If you applied again, would you apply for accomodation then? Would you have chosen a campus uni over UCL looking back?

i don't know. maybe.my boyfriend is at a campus uni so i know what thats like too. When i go there you do have a lot more fun, but i think i would personally get a bit lonely cos u cant party every night.I would miss my family a lot and home comforts such as the tv! i think at the end of the day i was never gonna be suited to uni! I suppose you can always do a bit of both, like live there in the first year and then move home in the second year like the girl below.at ucl i think you can only get uni acommodation in the 1st and third year anyway. i might be wrong.I suppose at the end of the day you gotta weigh up all the factors and decide what would be best for you. For me money was quite a big factor. xx
