Have i ever told you guys how cool my dad is?
사랑해요!!!!
When my sisters and I got hooked on Meteor Garden, we got our helper to record it for us everyday so that we could watch it when we got home. After 3 episodes, we couldn't wait to find out how it would end so we bought the original DVD online . The night it arrived, my sisters and our helper watched it in our parents' room. My mom and dad couldn't do anything since we outnumbered them. Up until she went to sleep my mom grumbled about it. hehehehehe!! After 3 hours of watching (it was already like 10 PM), my dad suddenly sits up from the bed. My sisters and I all thought "oh no! He's gonna ask us to go to bed already (since it was a weekday)." Imagine our surprise when he said "Pause niyo muna, mag CR lang ako." mwahahahahahahaha!!! We converted our dad!!
When we got our hands on Meteor Rain, we watched it before him as we had plans to go out that night. We warned him not to watch Jerry's episode since it was heartbreaking. When we got home, my parents were unusually silent. We were wondering what the heck was wrong. Then suddenly it hit me. I asked them "pinanood niyo pa rin yung episode ni Jerry no?" My dad sheepishly admitted that they did. hahaha! Di nakatiis.
When we got hooked on the Korean drama "Bright Girl," my dad watched along with us. Every night, we'd watch the episode our helper recorded in the afternoon. It became a tradition. We'd wait for our dad to come home from work and finish dinner before we'd watch it. He even suggested that I should go look for the DVDs of the show so we didn't have to wait for the TV version to finish.
When Lovers in Paris became the rage, my sisters bought the boxed set. We didn't know how to bring it home since my parents would rant about how we spent so much for it. Imagine our surprise when my dad hurriedly asked us to open it so we could start watching it.
When he retired, he would finish entire Korean dramas before us. He went through Full House (he thought Song Hye Gyo was really pretty) and Lovers in Harvard (he laughed at how Kim Rae Won just threw Kim Tae Hee on the sand as if it were a bed). He finished Firebird and Gumiho before I did. He referred to Eun Ji Won as Goyong when he watched his movie.
Whenever we rode in our dad's car, we'd play the kpop cds we had in his CD changer. Imagine my surprise when we were going home from badminton, he was humming along to TVXQ's Hug. hahahahahahaha!!
When they were packing to leave for the US, he wanted to bring the dramas so that he'd have something to do. It was only when we told him that he'd get in trouble with customs that he agreed to not bring em.
I miss my dad so much. He didn't get to see us go crazy over Arashi. I'm sure he would have thought they were Shinhwa. I'm pretty sure he'd be laughing his head off watching Hana Kimi with us.
Happy birthday, Dida. Pag uwi mo dito, marami tayong panoorin na drama, promise!
