First off, for all my Friendy people, I have been muchly distracted from LJ lately, so I'm mostly reachable through AIM.
Now for the real purpose of this post. I've noticed (and correct me if I'm wrong) that most of us had gotten a littl bored with the x-men rp by the end of the semester. Now, I know this was probably due to all the stress surrounding Finals and the fact that we were all worn out by the time we finished writing final papers and all, but because of that I feel a bit hard pressed to work up the same enthusiasm about the game as I originally did. And I know that if I'm not enthusiastic then the game's gonna suck, even if you guys are all gung-ho. So, because of that, I'm thinking that I will discontinue the game for this coming semester. I know we left off in the middle of the entire plot-thing, so maybe I'll see if you all want to start up again in the spring. (after a six-month gap, perhaps?)
To wrap up some things that I wanted to say as RP ending bits, Here's my general take on all of your characters and general game notes.
Mags: Your characters were always so quirky, and I liked putting them in situations I knew would be interesting for them (although I did not plan on the whole incestuous Chamber relationship). Also, You get the "Most Likely to Advance the (Sub)plot" award, because you as a player were always taking the group in ways I didn't expect.
PF (Or, I suppose, PS): You get the "Most Likely to 'Get it'" award, as most of my obscure x-men references were designed to try and stump you, yet it ended up being Magenta who actually managed it. (And, no, we still won't tell you Silence's parentage.)
The Jim: Your award is "Most Totally Awesome Character." Gauss rocks. I still just like saying the name. GAUSS. Also, when you joined the game I had to start being more careful about trying to make situations you couldn't just magnetize yourself out of.
Alpha: Man, you made me crack up more every time you opened your mouth. Also, you convinced me to let you make a uterus hat and rape Captain America. I should stop commenting right there, but I also had to mention that you get the "Worst Meta-Gamer" award, which means that you were the best at not metagaming. I was highly amused when you would try to nudge the others into doing the "right" thing, all the while staying in character as Sarge, and doing the completely stupid thing.
Minifoot: gets the "Most X-manish" award, for the Bamph. I would definately not be surprised if a similar character did not actually show up in an alternate future of the X-men comic. Also, you had the prerequisite death-touch angst to join the x-men.
The Foot: You came, You saw, You shat yourself.
Kingbird: You get the "Best Character" award! yeay! If there's one thing I'm going to be missing about Chronicleing this campaign, it's coming up with whatever it is that you take out of your pockets. You were always the most dynamic player, and I'm pleased to announce that Yellow Mage was officially the Main Character. Yeay again!
However, the overall "Winner" of the RP is:
Short&Bloodthirsty! because she gets the "Closest to Figuring out the Plot" award. I can remember at least five times when you either made a comment, or looked suspicious, or asked a direct question about the "big secret" plot point of the RP. Course, cause we didn't finish, I can't really reveal what it is, but maybe she'll get the "Figured out the Plot" award at the end of the whole game. Also, you were very in character all the time, especially when in dog-form. It amused me every time you said "I bite him!" while in wolf form, because I could just picture this cute little puppy-wolf attacking the big bad.
However, while I've been discouraged from x-related plotting, I've been coming up with a lot of RP ideas, and I am planning to run a campaign of fairy tales! I've been reading my Grimm Fairy Tales book over the summer, and with my anticipation of the Brothers Grimm movie that's coming out soon, as well as my continued joy over the Fables comics, I have come up with a campaign idea for characters in this vein. I'll be taking stories and characters not only from Grimm, but also from other tales like Aesop's Fables, the 1001 Arabian Nights, Just-So Stories, Mother Goose's rhymes, American tall tales, and others. Characters can either be established characters in these stories (like Cinderella, Tom Thumb, Aladdin, or others) or a fairy tale-type person of your own creation. I'm thinking of using GURPS system instead of Vagrant (as much as I make fun of it) because the focus in these types of stories is not on the "beating the bad guy til he dies" as much as it is outsmarting the bad guy without damaging yourself. and I think Gurps is more suited to a "realistic" game than vagrant. Also, I want to expand my horizons.
Anyway, All my x-men players have "first dibs" on joining up, meaning you all tell me if you want to play, and when you're free to do so, and I'll try to schedule it so the majority can come. I'll probably post about this in general to the forum board, and also recruit from the forum proper when I get back to school, cause I wanna get some new blood in this group. I'm thinking I'll start about a week after the start of school, as everyone should be mildly settled by that time.
So post here or email or IM me if you're interested! Also, PF, could you be so kind as to bring your Fables trades back to school, as I'll want any of my players who have not yet had the pleasure to be able to read them to get a feel for the fairy tale mish mosh genre.
