Finishing the opening day was like a direct hit to the mental state of Uchi, whose Sky role in the musical “Guys and Dolls” gained the popularity (the public performance was over already). Uchi will continue fascinating the audience on stage. And let’s hear him say what he thinks about “Entertainment”.
Right after the opening day of “Guys and Dolls” was over, I felt relieved. I also got the feeling as if it was just finished in the twinkling of an eye. This time I played a role named Sky, and had to show myself really cool (laugh). This is the natural character of Sky, but it’s totally different from mine.
In this butai, I had kiss scenes with the heroine Sara, and during the rehearsal, my face became red. Nevertheless, everyone didn’t look us (laugh). Of course, when acting, I turned completely into my role, so it’s entirely OK. But I’m the type of people watching the audience’s reaction composedly even during the performance. On the 2nd day, I got the feeling that there were a little girl clinging on to her mother and crying because of my kiss-scene. Though I wanted to act properly for the play and I knew that a kid crying was general, I still felt a little bit worried. But I was aware that this was an entertainment, I was playing that story and the person kissing was Sky, not Uchi Hiroki. However I think from my heart, I also want to see (that scene) (laugh).
I think people who are able to do the entertainment have to have the powers of concentration. I think I have the ability to concentrate too. After practicing in 2 weeks, I can perform the play properly (laugh). When being pushed to the wall, I will feel that “Yes, I go” and just trying to concentrate in a short time will make it better. Then in the entertainment world, smile is an important element. It can be called the art of conversation. The more you smile, the more interesting you make the conversation become, and you don’t have to be afraid anymore. My co-actor Nisshiki-san is a greatly interesting person. Because he has the ability of fast thinking, he’s really quick-witted. I want to become like him. Frankly, though I think I also own the smile-element, every time I see Nisshiki-san I know that I haven’t been like that yet (laugh).
Right after “Guys and Dolls” is over, “Ore no uchi ni kite Kurie”~ Come on my House (last till 9th May) will start. At this time I’m working out the content of the live performance. I will have to think of all the planning. During the interval between the performance (of butai) at noon and the performance in the evening, instead of sleeping, I make note and sum up all the things I want to do. I also write entirely what Question? will have to do. Because the sets of butai will keep being used, I want to make a story about “post-Guys and Folls”. Of course, I am still going to play the part of Sky. Other cast will be decided properly. And surely there’s Sara in it too! (laugh).
