We are getting married in about 53 days. OH MY GOODNESS! I am getting really nervous but last week on SB we found a fabulous apartment, the dress is currently being altered, bridesmaid shoes are all purchased, my hair do trial was a success, I worked out everyday last week, we packed all our things to move, and we planned our ceremony ( Read more... )

Clergy:
Plus this career offers status, normally modest work hours, and often good salaries. You needn't necessarily have unquestioned faith in God. I've spoken with a number of clergy who have deep questions about the nature and even existence of a Supreme Being.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is definitely not descriptive of the field I'm going into.

Modest working hours? regularly pulling 65 to 70 hr weeks, which will happen usually once a month due to different things is not modest. Not only that, consider that a minister is on call 24/7, and might be called at 3:00 and have to be at the hospital because a beloved church member, a teen from youth group is having a serious problem.

You don't necesarily need faith in God? Uhhh, to be a true minister of the bible you definitely do. What kind of hope do you have to offer people if you are unsure God exists, let alone Jesus. Are you serious. I could be a scientologist according to this offensively broad description!

Oh, and the pay? Yeah, we have been blassed as far as my job search, but in many istances, ministers are considered off to a good start if they can even nab a 20-25 salarly right out of college.

This quote is definitely out of touch of reality, at least for most evangelical Christian brotherhoods!

Yeah, lol. I read the description and just laughed. I needed that laugh. I even printed it out and took it to my secretary, and she got a good laugh too. I put the copy in my pastor's mailbox 'cause I'm sure he'll laugh at it too.

Oh, and if you're a Mormon minister, you don't get paid at all. Glad I'm not one of them.

That article made my day! Ha ha!
