The weather is so crazy. Snow, ice, blah blah blah. And yet UW will not cancel. :( But oh well, life goes on.

I got this in my inbox a little while ago:

Hello, All!

If you are receiving this message, you participated in an undergraduate
research program project I conducted on American folklore. In most cases,
that meant that you wrote annotated bibliographies on select topics helpful
to me in thinking about sources to list in entries for the encyclopedia.
Well, I just wanted to let you know that the book is (finally) published.
While the contract did not provide me with enough author copies to give you
each your own, you might like to know that I mentioned undergraduate
researchers by name in the acknowledgements section of the book, so check it
out!

Thank you for your willingness to participate in the undergraduate research
program, and I hope you enjoy seeing the finished product.

If you do wish to purchase a copy, it is available online through bn.com and
amazon.com.

This link should take you to the listing at overstock.com:

You can also order it from your favorite area bookstore.

All best,
Linda

I did undergraduate research for Professor Watts last year, and it's cool knowing that my research was useful and now it's published and my name is in it and everything. ^_^

For dinner today I went to Maggiano's for a retirement planning seminar (you can never be too young for these things! plus it was free). It was so delishioush. Chicken parmesean, lasgane, bruchetta, stuffed mushrooms, fish, pasta, tiramisu. YUM. And they had some really good chardonay (sp?). And the table I sat at had some really delightful people. I learned that the financial advisor that sat at our table has excellent taste, as his girlfriend is Chinese (and not only Chinese but she speaks Cantonese and she went to UW, so YAY) and he's going to China this summer to fix up a condo for his girlfriend's parents. Awww that's pretty cool. I felt so underdressed though because I went straight after class and so I was wearing my Puma sweatshirt while everyone else was wearing slightly nicer stuff. The nice thing though was that only one person thought I was underage. My face might be catching up with my age.

Our parting gift was a jar of Maggiano's marinara sauce. :P And the knowledge that I probably got my weirdness and short attention span from my mother.

Today was also Armi's birthday (yay!) so Kim and I went over to her place and had some of the cake that I made, and Aaron was over too so we all ate together and watched some Seinfeld and Friends.

All in all this day has been completely unproductive but it was worth it because I ate so much and am fat.
