Sound stopped working

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is.  About two weeks ago, my sound stopped working in Ubuntu Studio Edition 11.04.  I'm not getting sound through my speakers nor my headphone jack, but I can use my bluetooth headset.  It appeared to occur after a regular system update. I have no idea what is causing this problem. Any suggestions would be

Sound problems are often Pulseaudio's fault. Have you checked here?

Simple questions first - if you open sound preferences and choose the output tab, is the correct radio button selected? It could be that, for some reason, it selected your bluetooth as output, and needs to be told to use the correct thing.
