I like this! It didn't feel angsty to me, so much, but that could be because Brenda is in this life and death situation, and it's more 'this is my life flashing before my eyes and what am I going to do when/if I get out of this.'
The redemptive/purification thread in Brenda's thinking gives me the shivers.
The 'life flashing before my eyes' aspect is really interesting. Obviously we never get first person thought processes during dangerous situations on the show, and having someone with your level of insight tackle this is compelling.
I feel like this is pretty true to Brenda's character... She would totally try to keep a million balls in the air until something came along to knock them all down, but she would never do it herself. And I'd like to think that under this circumstance we'd finally get that Sharon/Brenda hug we're all hoping for.
I don't think this is that dark. It's very reasonable for Brenda to think this while looking down the barrel of a gun. I thought it was very true to her character.
But I also thought it was very heartbreaking, but beautiful. I really like what you did with the prompt and that Sharon was the one to 'rescue' her.
Oh I liked both of these! So very angsty and dark, the way I like my stories most of the time! There is so much depth that she even considers just dying to make all the problems go away. It's a very real realization of her to come to! So intense.
And I absolutely adored the other story because isn't it so true to life that even though we KNOW something is wrong, we still do it, we fall for it because that's how humans work when we have something that makes us feel good.
