Day 27 - This month, in great detail…or not
Oops…I did it again. I write fairly regularly in my journal, so I am choosing not to go into great depth about my month, mostly because it’s been kinda crappy. Instead, I've gone rogue (like Sarah Palin) and I’m going to list my five favorite should-be-but-aren’t couples on television. I am an OTP whore and generally I have an OTP for everything. I pick them right away and in the end, the real couples on the show never live up to my expectations.
1. Paris and Rory, Gilmore Girls
There’s something about this love/hate relationship that always gets me. I tend to be drawn to the characters who have a lot of anger and tension because, let’s face it, they’d have the best angry!hate!sex. Sometimes Rory irritates me, but that’s saved by the fact that Paris is complete neurotic brilliance. I think they made us want to love this pairing because ASP paired them both with complete dolts throughout the entire show. They complement each other in a way that no other couple on the show does (minus Luke and Lorelai).
2. Callie and Addison, Grey’s Anatomy
I don’t care what anyone has to say…no one is better suited for Callie than Addison, and vice versa. Their first case together (episode 3x07) immediately highlighted their chemistry and their immediate connection, and sitting in the hallway talking about getting drinks? Totally Addison asking Callie out. Callie wants a baby…Addison wants a baby…they’re both dorks at heart…what’s seriously not to love?
3. Sue and, well, anyone, Glee
I don’t know what it is about this particular show, but I want everyone to hook up with everyone, but mostly Sue. I mean, I’d pair Sue with half the Cheerios (separately or together, I don’t mind), any of the gleeks, Olivia Newton John, Brenda Castle, Shelby, Mrs. Schuester, Terri, or Emma. Sue needs to have some serious lovin’ from someone who doesn’t have a penis. Again, the whole anger and tension and “I’m better than you” attitude would lead to yummy angry!hate!sex and would make all the high school melodrama more interesting to watch.
4. O’Hara and Jackie (or Zoey), Nurse Jackie
I’m all conflicted about my NJ OTP because I would pair O’Hara with just about anyone just to see her getting down and dirty (see: Danielle rewinding the chapel sex scene 100x). I think she and Jackie have amazing chemistry as they are best friends, but with Zoey there’s that whole yummy power play. I can’t choose and therefore I claim them both…because I can.
5. Liz and Jack, 30 Rock
Oh Em Gee…a boy/girl couple! Can you believe it?! In 99.9% of television or movies, I will usually choose a girl/girl couple, but this is one of those rare circumstances where these two characters are PERFECT for each other, despite how much Tina Fey wants to deny it. The teasing and the comradeship and the fact that they look delicious together makes it that much better…no one gets Jack like Liz does, and vice versa.
