Less Wonder(ful) Woman

Joss Whedon has officially announced on Wheonesque that he will not be writing and directing Wonder Woman.

Sigh.

This is upsetting for many reasons. Selfishly, I loves me some Joss, so I’m sad to have less of his creativity to enjoy. Wonder Woman may also have made an even bigger name for him, leading to more projects, leading to more Joss goodness ( Read more... )

Oh, I hadn't heard that about Joss and WW. I'm with you in the bitterly disappointed camp. At least I found out before I started working on a Wonder Woman costume for Comic-Con. ;) And perhaps it is for the best that Joss isn't doing it. Big blockbuster-producing studios tend not to be supportive of visionary directors, and I wouldn't envy Joss his headaches from the suits. I mean, look what studio pressures did to Terry Gilliam's "Brothers Grimm," a film with the director, budget, and cast to be extraordinary. We shall just have to go back to begging for a film sequel to "Serenity." :D

By the way, do you mind if I friend you? Our ears seem to be pressed to similar walls! :D

Hello! Always happy to welcome a fellow Whedonite. I wouldn't want Joss depressed at fighting with suits either, but he's only going to get the Hollywood-cred to not have to do so if he becomes more famous. (Gilliam is wonderful, but he'll always struggle with this. Ah, a happy flashback to 'Brazil' and '12 Monkeys' - I'm ignoring the 'Grimm' thing.)

Also, it's wonderful to know that there are other women out there who realize that being a feminist is a good thing. (Raises sword of equality and salutes you.)

Friends, ho!
