Dollhouse was very good two weeks ago and absolutely fabulous last night! Hulu links:

The show is finally digging into the gritty promise of its premise - what are the real underlying implications for humanity in the face of such technology and what is its impact on individuals. 'Epitaph One' took a look at the bigger ( Read more... )

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILEREY SPOILERS IN THIS WHOLE POST!

It WAS amazing! I can't help but be a bit disappoitned in Adelle. Mr. 42 thought perhaps her conversation with Topher about being hired because he has no morals was meant to spur him to take action against Rossum, but the actress is gifted enough that I would have expected the least bit of satisfaction when Dr. Evil turned up missing, and it was just blank face. The conversation with the Rossum higher-up where he referred to her Ms. Lonelyhearts routine being the worst of her crimes extinguished her inner awesomeness.

I totally called Priya stabbing Dr. Evil at the end. I mean, how else do you poetically kill a rapist other than by penetration? The only part that made me roll my eyes the slightest bit is that Priya was stupid beyond stupid to go to Dr. Evil's without a plan or a weapon (or ninja skills). I guess it's the lot of the abnormally, stunningly gorgeous on Joss Whedon shows: to be made to suffer prettily. I mean, for crying out loud, how many times has that woman been raped by either Dr. Evil or her ex-handler? Sort of like, "how often can we supernaturallly impregnate Cordy in Angel?"

And who knew that Topher would be the stand-out character this season? Though Harry Lenix RULED in this episode. Ditto Amy Acker torturing Topher earlier this season.

If I thought Joss were jerking me around, re: Adelle, I'd say that she justified her staff's hiring by demonstrating that they're compromised but kept them on when they showed signs of goodness.

And oooooo, glimpse of Summer Glau as evil Rossum chick! Too bad Fox is screwing over Dollhouse by eliminating it from sweeps programing in favor of Bones and House reruns. It's not quite as bad as what they did to Firefly, but still...

I get what you mean about Adelle, but your comment made me wonder if she wasn't playing her cards very close to her chest because she's being videoed? I don't put it past Rossum.

Her Miss Lonelyheart was the least of her indiscretions - it makes me want to know her backstory even more!

I would have liked her to have had a martial arts upload as well. I wish it wasn't the woman of color having to stand in for the rape metaphor of the Dollhouse, but I also wonder if it was on purpose as a statement that women do have it worse in other countries?

I'm am loving Topher more and more (and I can't wait to get to more of him changing).

Adelle was presented as evil at first, but the more we learn, the more we see she's doing the best she can to protect people from the real evil (Rossum higher ups).

1 month to evil Summer - argh, the wait!

re: least/worst of her sins, yes, sorry! Mistype! I've loved Adelle since her first snarky line. I very much like your interpretation that she's feigning acceptance for the sake of Rossum's observers. And we never found out who tipped off Ballard and the congressman, did we? Right, I'll go back to loving Adelle now :D

Re: Sierra, if this show were done by anybody other than Joss Whedon, I would say that showing beautiful women (and it is mostly about the women) being turned into mindless zombies and victimized week after week by rich or powerful men is not so much a condemnation of rape culture but a glamorization of it. His lifetime feminist pass for Buffy and Firefly has taken a beating from Angel, Dr. Evil, and most of Dollhouse. They're certainly taking their sweet time to get to the "taking away hot women's minds isn't really cool" part.

And while I'm glad we're getting Alexis and Summer this season, I'm missing Amy Acker and Alan. Is he breathtaking in person? I find that guys who can play nebbishy on TV often stun me face to face.
