The Patriot Act was a clear strike at our civil liberties and despite the rhetoric from various members of the left & right to either ‘fix’ or eliminate it, has consistently won reinstatement. Until yesterday. There was a vote yesterday on continuing three of the more controversial provisions of the Patriot Act including unwarranted searches of your home called “sneak & peak”.
Because the bill was put on the “Suspension Calendar,” it needed 290 votes to pass. They only got 277 votes so it failed!!

Now these provisions are set to expire Feb. 28th, so the vote will be back. If you care about this why not call your representative and let them know?
