Got this yesterday:
I thought I knew what I was getting into buy buying a lot of tails direct from a hunter. I was wrong. These are not safe and sanitized plumes that come prepackaged and measured by the pound in show rooms. No, these still smell of death. At a glance they are beautiful enough until you turn them round and see the spot where they were wrested from the carcass. Their beauty just amplifies the violence of the act that brought them to my door step and makes me hesitant to touch them, to put them to use.
I know feathers come from birds and birds are killed just like my steak was once a wobbly kneed calf on some cattle ranch out west, but I usually don't see my steak in the context of the calf just shrinkwrapped fillets on clinical white styrofoam. I feel uncomfortable.
On a completely unrelated note, I need a new phone ASAP. The home phone has now been out for over two and half weeks and my mobile has decided to give up on life. After 2 years of faithful service I guess it deserves a rest. Poor thing really has been through allot, including a nasty crack it suffered its first week in my care. Must work on my habit of throwing phones when upset. At least I'm not that upset too often else It wouldn't have survived this long. So far the short list is the Razor because it is a quad band and, that's it. It is such a priority I guess since I've avoided answering my phone when It does ring for days. Along with emails, and all other correspondences. So any cool new phones out there? Requirements are simple. It must be: small, bluetooth capable, GSM
Not having a phone and spotty internet service has resulted in lots of books read and lots of new recipes tried and perfected over these past few weeks. When I was home alone I was cooking 3 dish dinners for myself almost every night (and didn't have any meat except for a package of lamb chops I crusted with herbs and fried mint!!!) I found that:
Cooking good food = Stress relief.
Lots of pots and pans from cooking = More stress
When stress relief from cooking is > stress from dirty dishes I am :)
