Suplado much?

I've always wondered if it's just me being suplado, or it's a cultural difference kind of thing.

Whenever I message contacts in different countries - let's say, if I have a question or need some confirmation from a contact in Costa Rica - I would always just say hi, then get straight to my point.

For example, I'd say "Hi [insert name here], just a quick question." Then I'd type away with my question or whatever I need. Almost always, I would get a response of "Hi Mico! How are you doing?" It makes me feel kinda guilty that they take time to include some pleasantries at the very least, even if it's the first time that they get to chat with you.

Is it a cultural thing or what? Or maybe I'm just really not the pleasantries kind of guy. Some say it's a "plastic how are you" so I shouldn't really feel guilty. They say it's just like seeing an acquaintance while walking and you greet him with "Oi, kamusta?", but you never really expect a reply - as if you're just being polite and asking kamusta but you never really stop to wait for an answer and just continue walking as if you didn't see anyone.

But if it's a cultural thing, how come everyone else is "observing" it except me or perhaps Filipinos in general?

Sorry naman. It's just me and another late night, errr, early morning in the office.

Look at me being polite and friendly.

Just look at my calendar this week, WTF!

LIFE, I MISS YOU. Damnit, when are you coming back???
