My First Trip to Safeway....
So, I went to a friend's house for dinner. On the way home, I decided to stop at Safeway to pick up some groceries. For one of the recipes I'm making, I needed Myzithra cheese. I looked in the regular cheese isle, but couldn't find it. I called a few people on my cell phone, and no one had heard of it. A short black lady wearing a purple-ish red-ish shirt, baggy pants, and a bandana asked me to help her get some champagne down that she couldn't reach. Being the Southern gentleman that I am, I gladly helped out. As I pull the first bottle down, I notice the price tag. It's one of the more expensive champagne's there (about $35 a bottle). As I pull down the first bottle, I say something like, "It's a good thing this one's here. I don't think I could reach the other bottle". The lady says "O! There's another bottle. Could you get that one too?" I stretch my fingers as far as I can, and I get the second bottle. She says thank you, and I ask her if she can help me out. I query whether she has ever heard of the cheese I was looking for. She said that she thinks she has seen it in the past, and offers to help me look for it in the cheese isle. I've already looked there, but I humor her anyway. Once we get to the cheese isle, she looks for the cheese for a second and begins to put the champagne bottles that I got down for her into her pants! She looks at me, and says "This doesn't concern you, but I'm about to steal these." I then inform her that I'm going to look for the cheese in another part of the store.
