First week of Spring Semester: How much homework can be dumped on an undergrad?

Seriously though, it's not that bad. Mostly. Lots of reading in two of my classes, but at least for the one, the books are super, super cheap. Like, 10 bucks cheap. And all we do in there is review one of them, and some sort of group project. Also there's quizzes on the reading. And being Sociology, it's pretty interesting stuff.

Then there's the Anthropology course, which will be running an extra 4 weeks. It meets once a week. Unfortunately, the books there are textbooks, which automatically means wallet crippler. It too has a lot of reading, and tests based on those...and god only knows what else. Strange class, strange teacher. Could be fun.

Finally, we come to Japanese. This particular one uses media sources to help teach, and is open to all levels of students, so uh, I'm repeatedly shown up by everyone from the 2nd and 3rd years. On the upshot, we watch movies, the news, j-dramas, and read a comic book for classwork and homework. Of course, there's also biweekly journals, a movie review, a speech, and a group project, all in Japanese, that I have to do. It's a busy course, but it doesn't seem that way.

Spring semester is all of 8 weeks long, so it's quite a bit of coursework to cram in for those two classes. Gas prices aren't making the commute any sweeter, either, since it jumped 20 cents overnight, and I have to go up there 3 days a week. I've taken to driving slower on the expressway to try and eke out a little more fuel economy, leading to me almost getting rammed by cars tailgating or weaving around me pretty much every time.

Beyond that things are normal. Working on my nonschool days, and also on Thursday morning since I don't have to be up there til 3. Start freelancing on Monday. And I'm on track to graduate in December, leading to my ultimate goal of moving out in the first half of next year. A book I had to review for the internship credits tells me that my best bet at finding work post-graduation is shopping around small outlets, away from the larger urban areas, as the extra experiences gained there can lead to an easier time finding other, better paying work.

I also won a pair of Neo Geo babies on ebay :D
