mass storage

Secondary memory systems that i've used over the years include (in vague and convoluted order of capacity):
  • 2kB NVRAM card-slightly larger than a CF card-for a little Casio pocket computer
  • 140 and 180kB per side 5¼" flip-floppies
  • 360 and 1200kB properly double-sided 5¼" floppies
  • 400, 720, 800, and 1440kB [which is, by no sane means 1.44MB] 90mm (3½") floppies
  • cassette tape
  • 20MB full-height full-width fixed disk drive
  • 10 to 40MB half-height full-width fixed disk drives
  • 400MB to 1TB now-normal-desktop-sized fixed disk drives
  • 120MB to 40GB lappy-large-sized drives
  • 8MB to 2GB CF cards
  • 32 and 64 MB SD cards
  • 2 and 4GB microSD cards
on computers with primary memory (RAM) sizes from 1kB to 1GB.
