Yeah, two posts in one day. Pick your jaw off the floor.
I can tell by the clock on CNN that we're scant days from making decisions that will affect the course and viability of this country. As for the Presidential election, I don't care who you vote for (or against) just go out and do it. It's not hard, it doesn't hurt, and it doesn't cost you anything. If you don't vote, then you don't get to bitch for four years, understand? If you vote and your candidate looses, suck it up and deal with it .. majority rules, and I/you/we obviously chose poorly.
There's actually something MORE important than voting for the Old or Black guy. (Yeah, I went there) How about Local Races and Issues. The Issues are going to affect your taxes and the state constitution, city charters, and numerous other things. The Races can change the course of Congress (you know, those people who actually MAKE the laws and approve/defeat all those promises that the Presidential candidates have made), the Judiciary (the people who interpret the laws), and our localities/municipalities (where we live, and the idiots that most-directly affect our day-to-day lives). If you, like me, live in Lucas County/Toledo then our
Board of Elections can be directly accessed by clicking
HERE.
They provide both a list of the
Races and the
Issues that will be before us on November fourth. Please, please, please educate yourself on them BEFORE you go to the polling station. Otherwise, you're just going to tie-up a machine or a spot for an inordinate amount of time, and the Secretary of State is already predicting lines. I've made myself a cheat-sheet that I'll be happy to share with the sheep in the flock if you're unmotivated to decide for yourself. There are things like COSI, MR/DD, Casinos, Private Property Ground Water Rights .. and a slew of other minutia that you never thought you should care about .. but they're asking for your opinion, so the least you can do is make an informed decision.
One more thing: if you already know that Nov. 4 is going to be insanely busy, if you're afraid of long lines, and standing with hoards of miscreants. If you don't want to run the gauntlet of those bastards trying to convince you to vote for their candidate/issue. Or if you just want to get it over with, you CAN early-vote. The Board of Elections has provided the information on how, when, and where at
THIS LINK.
You officially have no excuse not to do your civic duty. If you don't, the rest of us will taunt you mercilessly.
