I have very little of this dream left, so I'm trying to put it down as quickly as possible because, quite frankly, it was too weird.
Lemme start off by saying that I have not been sleeping well. Even when I know that I'm dead tired, I end up tossing and turning, and staring at the clock, and listening to the noises outside, and driving myself mad. I've tried doing math in my head, meditating, pondering koans, and I've resorted to Tylenol PMs (which also did very little). However, I have a feeling that the Tylenol PMs are responsible for this .. melange of imagery, this discordian dreamscape, or whatever the hell it was supposed to be. Now, unlike some people (Oscar) I do not normally have vivid or memorable dreams, and as the title indicates, it's quickly fading into nothingness, so I've made some bullet-points for myself so that hopefully I can retell what little I have left.
I don't know how it all started, all I know is that there was a commando unit, of which I was a part, which was comprised of several LJers and some other random people I know. There was some sort of insurrection in a town at the bottom of a cliff .. a little seaside resort town of sorts. For some reason we (the unit) were tasked with observing the goings-on from a TGI Fridays, or Applebee's, or Ruby Tuesday type of place, which was perched on the cliff overlooking the whole of this town, and happened to be staffed by people from the theatre. The buildings were tiny from our vantage point, so I could only wonder at the height of the cliff. We totally commandeered the place, setup barracks in the banquet room, ransacked the kitchen, I think we even enlisted some of the wait-staff. The truly bizarre part started when we noticed the 6-lane highway just behind the joint, which was the start of an IMMENSE suspension bridge (think Golden Gate, or Firth of Forth) which was emblazoned with Disney characters. [Note: I can only surmise that this has something to do with work .. the ups and downs of Disney]
For some odd reason, we took to driving back and forth across the bridge. Whether it was to keep tabs on the town from another vantage, or to secure the bridge, I do not know. However, we finally noticed that there was some sort of tram that ran along the cables. When we got to one of the ends, we asked what it was, and it turns out that it was a people-mover cum roller-coaster, which we promptly commandeered. It had a tourist information video that played CONTINUOUSLY as we made several circuits from one end of the bridge to the other, up and down the cables and towers, over and under the bridge decking, all the while trying to see what was going on with the insurrection below. I don't remember hearing "It's a Small World" looping, but it wouldn't have made the whole experience any more surreal than it already was.
My eyes snapped open, the clock read 6:54, and the dream started to fade.
WTF was that?!
dreams,
going mad,
index corruption,
it's the drugs
