Hello all,
Professor Swanson has called sick and canceled today's lecture. I have decided to cancel the tutorial as well. I will be in school on Friday afternoon and available. Please let me know if you need to meet on Friday. I can also help you with your questions over the email.
Bests,
Shokoufeh

before going to school today. I will never say my time spent procrastinating on the internet is wasted, Ever Again. In celebration of my reconciliation with my internet cable, I shall blog. I've organized my entries undersubheading because I know they're are usually too long for their own good. Go me(?).

Complaining
I don't think my heart or my blood pressure can take any more of this messy "midterm" business. I'm just in a constant state of stress but as you can tell from the fact that I'm writing a blog entry instead of doing homework, I put myself in this predicament. How Dostoevskian of me..... Coooooool :democrats:.

Trying to figure out which student is better than another is pointless, and sort of hurtless. Most university profs could care less what happens to the A+ student as opposed to the F- student after the marks are submitted. Students who fail a class just take it again and again until they pass. In the end, a univeristy degree is obtained, no matter how long it took to get it, and since employeers rarely ask for transcripts, from that angle, everyone has the same chances. And why is it that the stupidest, laziest, most self-centered people in my business classes are the ones that have jobs in a national bank? Please, oh fickle business gods, let this be a coincidence.

Oscars
In keeping with the prcrastination theme, I loved the 2006 Oscars show! I love watching the show each year but I couldn't last year because nominees annoyed the greymatter out of me. The ballots were full of the type of films that no one puts down good money to see, and are made mainly primarily for Oscar acclaim. This year's list was pretty much the same thing, though I will admit that even though I haven't seen any of this year's best Picture nominees (sort of like every year...), for some reason, I really wanted Brokeback Mountain to win :julieDrools:.

For me, the best part of the show was its theme - a return to glamour. I really love the aesthetics of old hollywood. As more and more "wardrobe malfunctions" and dumbass box office cash grabs - I'm looking at you Dukes of Hazzard! - populate the industry, it makes me wonder why we ever wanted to leave the glamourous era behind. Are dresses that fit and cover, and original movie concepts so hated that no one can even see anything wrong with them and hence, stop? Erm, all pyschotic ranting aside, this year's Oscar theme was great! *smashes head on desk*

The overhead display (what is it called?) that announced presenters, categories, and winners as they came on stage was genius. It was very stylishly done, and even if you didn't like it, you have to admit that it served a very practical purpose. The clips introducing each category were great as well; loved seeing the movie making equipment. Guess I'm a sucker for tones of black and white! And men wearing the same heh heh. There were a lot of basic solid colour neckties accompaning black suits this year, so bless Eric Bana's heart for wearing a bowtie.

I can't believe David Letterman agreed to appear in the opening montage. I'm glad he did though because it added to what was already a very funny montage. Hope this means that he'll come back and host again haha, I think everyone's forgiven him by now. I'm not a George Clooney fan in any way, especially after what he did to the Batman franchise, but the way he said "No...." when Jon Stewart asked Clooney if he was dreaming, was very cute. What was Halle Berry doing there though? Couldn't get work anywhere else perhaps?
