The weekend started with apathy and emo-ish anguish but thankfully it got better. Way better.
Friday began with an accounting quiz followed by a lecture. Both things were more pleasant that I thought they would be which is very nice. I won't go so far as to say that I look forward to accounting class but I would definitely rather be fustrated in accounting than bored out of my gourd in Occupational Health and Safety. I may have to do a quiz every two weeks in accounting, but at least I'm awake.
After class, I went to a "Canadian" place for a hair cut. I've been tagging along with my folks to asian salons but those experiences are so horrible that no one ever comes away from that happy (well actually I don't think to workers there are ever happy). But I'm all grown up now so I can go anywhere I want within the city's transit system without worrying how to escape from a kidnapper's trunk then hitchhiking my way back from Wisconsin.
Anyway, I really liked going to a Canadian hair salon. I even got to experience a "repeat" in the "lather, rise, repeat" process and had my hair finished off with mousse. I'm like a Hilton offspring! When I was all pimped out, I had a look at myself in the mirror and realized that I had a mullet! I freaked but my hairstylist was just so happy with it, and I can never confront people, that I just gushed about how different I looked and how change is good. Then I caught my reflection in the bus window and I thought I looked like a pseudo-indie-rocker fob, which is WAY worse than having a mullet. Then I got home and I think the haircut finally became what my stylist had describe it would be and I really liked it. Now... now I look like one of the Beatles (i.e. voluminous bowl cut) and it makes me look like I'm 27. Ah well, it's just hair.
The next day I sported my ever changing cut at a D&D game. My friends surprised me with a beautiful cake and a candle from the living room (I think it was the only thing they could find to set on fire). And it wasn't just a cake - it was a bloody ice cream cake!! :D I really hope they didn't spend too much money on it. Arg! Why must they rawk?
So who says that people don't read anyone? Those people jus' ain't gots no head-learning!
I went to the
Word on the Street Festival on Sunday with naz. I love going to festivals, conventions and other gatherings of the sort because I always like to nerd it up whenever I can. But I hate it when the event becomes so popular that you spend most of your time waiting for someone to leave their spot at a booth so you can immediately replace them to get a free temporary tattoo. Well in the case of the Word on the Street Festival, it was a bookmark, but you get the idea.
I unfortunately saw many things I wanted to buy at the festival. I only allowed myself to buy a
book for myself and a soduku book for me mum. I saw a beautiful single-edition of LotR for EIGHT FREAKIN' DOLLARS, but there's no way I could justify buying it. I already own two copies of LotR. An older, wiser, and more learned LotR fan told me that I'll have to buy a new set every five years since I'll wear them out so often. Oh what a beautiful thought. I also saw LotR on audiobook, something else I really want (my preciousss). But it was $78.00 for each part! Yeah sure, there are 16 cds in each set and it's unabridged but who can afford $234 for all three sets? Why does everything go back to me robbing a bank?? That can't be a coincidence anymore can it?
As enjoyable as this weekend was, it would have been even more so if I wasn't sick and pmsy. It's hard to talk to people and thank them for their wonderful thoughtfulness when all you want to go is grab a bat and head towards the far corner off your bedroom. If I didn't say it or it didn't come across, a hundred thousand thank yous to those who remembered and did a little something and to those who weren't suppose to know but found out anyway :D.
