So yeah, we went to Chicago last week to visit the family and what not, and what have you. It was really alot of fun and I'm happy to have had the chance to visit family again. My grandmother got to see our daughter for the first time, which was really exciting.
The first day we got there, we went to the Art Institute because that was the thing I was most excited about the whole time. I couldn't wait to show Jen around one of my favorite places in the world. What really sucked though is we had to only spend an hour and a half there because the mid-day train schedule is so funked up.
But I got to see all my favorites, namely Picasso's "The Old Guitarist". The painting was originally a woman standing and ole Pablo didn't like that so he painted over it. The cool thing is, you can see the indentation of the previous paint underneath the new paint. You can make out a woman's face and body. To me, thats absolutely amazing, and something you can only see by viewing the original. Its like Jen was saying while we were there, its enough to make you cry.
Then the finale to end the trip was standing with our arms crossed staring at Seurat's "A Sunday on La Grande Jatte" like they did in Ferris Beuler's Day off. I imagine everyone from our age range does that exact same thing.
But, we're going back during Thanksgiving, and while I don't expect to go back to the AI during then, it's still always nice to see the city whenever possible.
Oh well, back to my Tennessee life with my Tennessee house and my Tennessee co-workers whose Tennessee accents I can never understand.
