While weathering a hailstorm in the safety of my office over the weekend, a friend and I discovered that the Internet will give you the names, addresses, criminal records, and photographs of convicted sex offenders living in your neigborhood (at least if it happens to be in Texas). I guess I thought that information was only available to people who wanted to go to a lot of effort to know these things.

And you wouldn't believe how many people in my zipcode have been convicted of sexual assault.
