I know, I know, it's been forever. And I still have two papers to
write for my internship class before I go to bed at 11 so I can get up
at 5:30 am tomorrow. But who said a little (more) procrastination
ever hurt anyone?
I'll keep this post slim, down to the vital details:
INTERNSHIPS: are awesome! (although my boss at Warner Bros is a
heinous flapping cunt, but that's waaaay beside the point) Lots
of stuff to do at Mosaic, and tons of connections to build on the music
side. I've definitely become part of the office community, and I
often go out for drinks and party with my co-interns and
coworkers. And I got like 25 free CDs from Warner, so it's not
all bad.
WEST COAST LIFESTYLE: I had the Brown house to myself for two straight
weeks while Sally explored Costa Rica with her sister. Being the
good and responsible Eagle Scout that I am, I completely failed to have
one of those bitchin' Animal-House-teen-movie house parties every kid
with an empty house is required by law to have. But I did take
good care of the dog, cat, and fish. And Watson, the cat, has
finally warmed up to me, sitting in my lap and sleeping on top of the
covers at night. Certainly a credit to his species.
HOLLYWOOD TYPE SHIT: saw a free screening of a new
Sara Silverman stand up special....WICKED funny. Saw
Gomez at the House of Blues Hollywood. Saw a free screening of "
Inside Deep Throat",
a documentary on - well, on "Deep Throat". Tomorrow, going to see
the Watkins kids from Nickel Creek at venerable LA club
Largo. Shared an elevator with
Brittany Daniel. Momentarily glimpsed
Will Ferrell and
Kevin Sorbo in the office. Saw a free rock show from a band called From Satellite at the
Key Club on Sunset Blvd.
WEATHER: Sunny. Breezy. Mid-60s. February what?
AWESOME NEW MUSIC YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO: Dogs Die in Hot Cars (new
favorite!), Head Automatica, My Chemical Romance, Ted Leo + the
Pharmacists, Green Day's "American Idiot" (what? you dont have it
by now??), The Dears, Jesca Hoop, Madeline Peyroux, The Books, World
Leader Pretend, Wilco's "Summerteeth" album (always
excellent...probably the best CD I own, and certainly the finest album
of its band's output), Graham Coxon, and Brian Wilson's "Smile".
WHOA! GEEK OUT! Cred = plus ten thousand.
And I'm out. Lata, kids.
