...and sometimes the bar, well...he eats you.

Good and interesting day at Mosaic.  Newest development: I just got offered another internship, this one at Warner Brothers Records.  SCORE!  I will most likely work 3 days at Mosaic and 2 days at WBR, providing me with more industry contacts, broader experience, and whole new batch of names and faces to memorize.

In the meantime, some real-world realizations have been dawning on me.  You know, big, deep, what-do-I-want-to-do-with-my-life stuff.  Since it's late and I should get to bed, I'll simply copy and paste an IM conversation from this evening that pretty much covers the main points.

Regarding my registration for the February LSAT:

NUWildcatQT: The LSAT?!  This is a new development, isn't it?
JasonBob7: but hey, i've only got 10 weeks out here (well, now its 9 weeks and 1 day), so i gotta make the most
NUWildcatQT: That's true, it will fly by.
JasonBob7: yeah, sort of new
JasonBob7: this summer i figured grad school MIGHT be an option, a few years down the road
JasonBob7: so just to be prepared, i better take the tests, and there's no better time to take them than while i'm still in school and accustomed to academics and stuff
JasonBob7: so i'm taking them now
JasonBob7: and judging from the first 50 pages of the LSAT prep book, i should do pretty well
JasonBob7: its actually got nothing to do with law or legal stuff
JasonBob7: it's made to evaluate how well you can analyze arguments and logic, so it's sorta like logic puzzles and critical reading and analysis
NUWildcatQT: Yeah, that's what I hear.  just got her scores from it and she apparently did well... so if she can do well, you'll do amazing!
JasonBob7: LOLOLOL
JasonBob7: thanks!
NUWildcatQT: (No offense to her, of course.  I mean, don't tell her I said that or anything...)
JasonBob7: and finding out that the LSAT is easy and almost fun for me kind of encourages me to take another look at law schools
JasonBob7: i mean, if i have an aptitude for it...
JasonBob7: and there's all sorts of applications for a law degree in the entertainment and music biz
NUWildcatQT: Oh, totally.  I could definitely see you doing that.
JasonBob7: oh could you?
NUWildcatQT: Although it's wouldn't let you use your creative side very much.
JasonBob7: well, there's creativity in law
NUWildcatQT: Yeah, you're so organized and fabulous at talking to people and networking and stuff... you'd be great.
JasonBob7: and i'm learning from my current internship that working my way up to managing or producing a band can be kind of creatively stifling too....there's definitely a ladder to climb, where you're a mailroom dude, then an assistant's assistant, then an assistant, then maybe a manager
JasonBob7: and the issue of money is starting to stare me in the face
JasonBob7: like this assistant i was working with today
JasonBob7: he's 26, married, on the same track I'd be on, and making $25,000 a year
NUWildcatQT: Yikes.
JasonBob7: yeah
NUWildcatQT: Yeah, it's so disillusioning to realize that picking a career isn't all about what you would love to do.
JasonBob7: whereas a law degree would open up higher-paying jobs in the industry
JasonBob7: exactly
JasonBob7: and that not having money puts pressures and stresses on your life that stifle your creative energy and time, just as much (or more) than a high-paying but boring job can
JasonBob7: but at least i know that i feel good and excited just by the environment that a music-related job entails
JasonBob7: working with people that love music, and being surrounded by it, are really fulfilling and cool
NUWildcatQT: And as much as I'm all for women in the workplace, equal opportunity, yadda yadda yadda... money is still move of a concern for guys cause they're expected to support a family.
NUWildcatQT: Oh, totally... you can't be free to love your life and what you're doing it you're worrying about where your next meal or you kids college tuition is going to come from.

So who knows?  Law school?  Business school?  Big bucks?  Music-biz corporate ladders?

Oh, I have an idea!  You can give me lots of money for free so that I can do whatever I want to.

Man, I have great ideas all the time.  Someone oughta keep track of these lil' gems.
