I've signed a lease and have the key to a new apartment. It's located in Campbell, Ca, which is a southern suburb of San Jose. It's about 16 miles from work (12 miles of it are on Hwy 85). It's a 1 story duplex, and I have a 2 bedroom apartment.
The main reason I'm moving is that my current place keep raising the rent. When I moved in, the rent was $1175. During the lease, the complex was sold, and when my lease came up for renewal, they raised my rent to $1285. 6 months laster, they want to raise it again to $1350, I think. I'm fairly sure their goal is to bring it up to $1400 which is what they're offering for new leases. My new 2 bedroom apartment is less than I'm paying now. At first, I won't have a roommate, but I'm keeping that option open.
