Hell yeah, Cat Power! I've seen the Arcade Fire a bunch of times, and they are so much fun live, if you have the chance to see them. Built to Spill are a fun post-punky band. I'm a fan. I should make you copies of my "Hip Made Easy" mixes, which will introduce you to lots of rad bands. Or I could make you special mixes. Let me know what you think you can handle, in terms of quantity - do you just want data cds of whole albums, or mixes to give you a taste of various bands?
I guess I saw the t-shirt as an opportunity to say more about the character. Seriously, all the twenty-something viewers like you and me, who, ya know, watched and played with Transformers in the '80s, were a target audience that was likely to see the movie. The Strokes are a band that was important in the surge of garage bands that made it big... five years ago. Now, it just feels dated. And ultimately, if they were going to recall hip bands of yore, they should have gone with a truly pivotal band, or a band with more personality. Hell, a Nirvana t-shirt would have been better.
