[Greetings, Mayfield! Whoever and wherever you are, you may or may not be surprised to see a new face wandering around your street. In fact, if you look close enough, you'll find that they're very much handsome...and also somewhat in distress, even though he doesn't seem to show it. While he does look kind of suspicious to some of the people, all ( Read more... )

[Odd was indeed a good word to phrase this. There was the vaguest sense of familiarity associated with this new face, the ever-so-faint feeling of something Lancer couldn't quite place.]

[He shrugged it off--probably nothing, after all--and instead addressed the passerby's words.]

It's not. At least, not as far as I know.

[Diarmuid stops in his tracks as he turns around to look at him. Weird...this guy looks familiar, but he can't quite place as to who it might be.

In the meantime, he'll stare right at him with an apprehensive expression. Judging from his reply, he seems to be from his home world, so he must know something.]

...is that so? Well, then. If you don't mind me asking, just where exactly am I and what is this place?

A town called Mayfield. Now that you mention it, it does almost function like a Reality Marble, but it's been around way too long. Not to mention there doesn't seem to be any magic as I know it keeping the place going. Basically, this is a location that disregards all sense of time, reality, and logic. We're all stuck here, and stuck without anything we had at home.

And I suggest you get used to things here, odds are pretty good we'll be here for a while.

[Lancer sighed and shrugged his shoulders carelessly.]

Call me Lancer, while we're doing the whole introduction thing.

Hoooh, really now? I guess that explains why neither of my spears are here...amongst other things--

[Woah, woah, hold on a second! Did he just say...?!]

...your name is also Lancer? Huh. This is quite interesting to hear.

'Also' Lancer? [And 'neither of'? If he was another Lancer class, what kind of hero dual wielded spears? But if his name was Lancer and he spoke of a Reality Marble, then...]

...tch. You must be another Servant--never thought I'd meet another Lancer class.

[But a grin broke out across his face; that must have been the weird feeling he'd gotten looking at this guy. Another Lancer? This might be fun. Hopefully he'd even get a good fight out of it.]

Tell you what, kid. Since we're basically in the same proverbial boat here-- [and he was bored] ---let me buy you a drink.

[Lancer's solution to everything.]

My sentiments exactly. But, since you seem to a bit more amiable-- [He smiles back.] I would be happy to accept that offer.

I'm not going to start a fight to the death right now. Not really in the mood, and it wouldn't be quite as fun to do so as a human.

[Shrug.]

It's over this way. [he turned and started walking--this Lancer didn't seem the type to stab someone in the back, even if he did have a weapon.]

Good. It wouldn't be an honorable battle if one were to strike an opponent that wasn't on equal grounds as they are.

[Of course, Diarmuid follows him. However, the thought of wondering if he had seen him before still bugged him.]

Excuse me for asking this question, but are there other Servants around here besides us? And if so, do we still have to call each other by our Servant names, or do we have to use our real identity?

Several, yeah. But it doesn't really seem like there's any sort of Holy Grail War going on for now, so meeting one might not automatically mean a confrontation.

[Which he almost regretted.]

[At the last question, however, Lancer paused and glanced over his shoulder.]

...It would be difficult to call each other 'Lancer'. And since I assume both of us are without any powers to speak of, it isn't as if I'm going to just turn around and attack you.

If you're willing to give me your name, I'll keep it a closely guarded secret and give you my own in return.

Huh. Even so, I suppose I'll have to keep an eye out for them, just in case.

[He simply gives him a tiny grin. Even if he didn't quite know who he was, he could already trust him.]

Heh, glad to see you have that much honor, then. As for my name? It is Diarmuid ua Duibhne.

[...Wait. WAIT. He knew that name. All Servants had a basic grasp of the kind of myths that could produce heroic spirits, and fortunately Lancer had lost none of his memory.]

[But this wasn't just any myth. It was one of his own country, wasn't it? He knew that name, and now he finally understood why this person had seemed so vaguely familiar.]

[He didn't even bother to try and hide the grin that broke out across his face. At this point, he probably sounded like an eager little kid.]

That's where I know you from, you're one of the Knights of Fianna...!

[He might actually get the chance to fight one of the Fianna? BEST DAY EVER.]

[Lancer crossed his arms and faced Diarmuid with a confident smirk.]

Of course, we agreed I would give you my name in return.
