Been wanting to write in this thing, but wow how motivations change over time. Since I've been just lj-ing about concerts lately that is the reason why I'm here. =)
I got to see SOAD twice in the past 4 months and that's pretty damn awesome. They're great live! Considering they haven't broken their hiatus, it's fortunate they're even doing shows.
First time I saw them was at an Almost Acoutic in 2005, and I get to see them again at an Almost Acoustic in 2014. Coincidentally, Rise Against and Fall Out Boy were also at both. (meh to FOB lol, sorrynotsorry). Circles of life.
I had to run there from work, and got to see RA do 2 songs, but didn't miss FOB. =\ Why are they after RA? oh well. I got to see RA earlier that year in a smaller venue, finally. Checking my blog, I didn't write about this concert too! Motivations do change. I got to see them in something other than a arena, finally. haha. And finally got to see the whole stage instead of a side-half-part view. I was mostly glad I could see Tim's face without squinting. lol. It was also my first live going by myself since plans made my companion miss it. It was actually really fun. Iono about other ppl, but when you go by youself all you have to care about is yourself. Crazy thought I know. It's liberating. Of course there's pros and cons. But I found it really fun.
[side note: When I went to a Japanese concert by myself, it felt nice knowing I didn't drag someone with me. xD I have a really niiice friend and a sister (sometimes) who will go with me on those, but now I know I'll be fine. Been to a ton of these now. I know what's up.]
In Almost Acoustic, SOAD brought on stage a Make a Wish kid for their last song, Sugar. I thought that was awesome. He played guitar.
Last Monday was their full concert, funnily, at the same venue. This time we were in the back of the back, but center stage. Which I totally was down for. I could face forward instead of sideways. And equal hearing in both ears. xD
I loved it when Serj said, I'm not used to playing this long.
I get serious Hisashi vibes from Daron the guitarist. lolol. Just in the way they talk in weird wtf-ery ways. They're different ppl, yes, but when Daron talks and iono what's going on, I think of Hisashi. hahahahahaha. Maybe also cuz Daron was sporting that hat Hisashi wears, too. And that he's the shortest of the band... Fucking awesome guitar shizz too... They both crack me up. lololol
They did the concert to highlight the 100 year anniversary of genocide in Armenia. Throughout the show, they showed a video narrated by Tom Morello which was kewl.
Me and my friend chatted up this 21 year old girl sitting next to us who went by herself. Dude. She asked if we saw them already, and we said yeah, like 10 years ago. Which prompted her to ask how old we were. We said 10 years older than you. xD Which brought on a surprised look on her face. She thought we were in our early 20s. Bless her. It made us think though, holy crap shits we started going to concerts more than 10 years ago. Just grasping a span of time like that and reminiscing is crazy. It's cray.
Going home we got a flat tire. It's like close to midnight, and I have work at 630. xDD I call up AAA, but since I know how to change a tire I went ahead. (Good to call for help just in case, no?) The dude shows up and I'm done. lolololol. He's like what? I asked him to double check my work. He takes out his crowbar and tightens the bolts (but they're really tight already), he's like you did this?? hehe. He adds some air in it for us and we're off. hahaha. My dad taught me well.
I was a zombie at work, but totally worth it! They played Lonely Day, double worth it! I knocked out once I got home. =]
Bam!
