Okay, nutshell version:
I was on the Mall in front of the Smithsonian Castle, which had turrets that extended outward past their actual bounds. There was a stage set up in between them, and Phish was playing. I was hanging out on the lawn, dancing (as much as I do) and having a good old time. At the set break, the band left the stage, and about 40 feet out into the lawn there was a scaffold tower about 10' x 10' x 40' high. At the top a band was playing, with my friends Baker and Tony playing bass and percussion respectively. I thought, "Cool! I didn't know Tony was into performing music, but dang if he hasn't got rhythm." After they played a song or three, Phish came back on, but stopped midway through the first verse, which I found odd. I looked up to the top of the tower to watch Baker and Tony's band play, but after playing a note or two, they stopped as well and started breaking down their equipment. I thought, "Gee, I guess they're really strict here about stopping music at a certain time. I wonder if it has to do with union rules."
