Movie Review: Garden State

May 21, 2005 23:37

After letting the DVD languish on top of my TV for the last month and half - finally decided to pop it in.

It was perhaps not the best time to watch a movie, especially a movie that deals with emotional numbness - but what the hell - wasn't doing anything with my Saturday night anyway.

The Review:

Despite the fact that this was completely not my type of movie what-so-ever, I found myself able to focus on it and only got up to wander aimlessly around twice. Not bad.

I liked the effect of the slow-motion photography in that it made me feel the numbness of the main character - the disconnect he was feeling. Of course, that was helped by 7 hours of accounting - but still, cool.

I also kinda liked that the happy ending was tinged by "what do we do now?". I've always been vaguely disturbed by the message that all you need to do is fall in love and all answers will fall from the heaven or where ever answers come from.

Must say that the Sound was PERFECT. Must have had a real sound genius working on it. :-)

Anyway, I'm not going to rave about the movie, since it wasn't my type of movie - but I will give it a "good show".

Because the sound was so perfect I give it 7 meows.
