Older is definitely not better .....at least where it concerns being able to bake.
I've never been much of a baker - it's a bit too finicky for me, but I thought I'd give it a try and make my own cake.
I found the BEST recipe for marble cake (my absolutely favorite type of cake) and it really made the yummiest batter (I was doing batter shots - really, that good!).
And then I baked it into dry oblivion.
Although to be fair - I've suspected for sometime that my oven temperature is not correct and I've thought about getting an oven thermometer - but up 'till now it wasn't a pressing issue. But, the cupcakes baked WAY faster than they should have at the supposed temperature I had set the oven at. Usually, I would have noticed them over-cooking a bit sooner except that my cold has segued into allergies and I'm very congested. By the time I 'smelled' them, it was way too late.
I'll be giving myself a belated present of an oven thermometer later this month an try again.
Maybe by then some latent mid-life baking gene will have kicked in.
