I Used to be a Roady for an Accapella Group
So how awkward is this?
I signed up for an event yesterday, thinking I didn't know the EC. Ran into the EC last night and realized that I had met her somewhere - but couldn't remember.
Then I started talking about Avocados with Twist and that even though E was gone I could come raid the backyard.
EC said "Oh, you guys know E? I went to a bbq at her place last summer."
And suddenly I remembered - oh boy did I remember.
The BBQ was one of Es avocado fest events. We bring fixin's to go with the avocados and something for the grill. It was not just implied that you should like avocados.
So this EC was there and started whinging about all the avocado dishes. Apparently, she hates avocados. Figuring this situation deserved a little bit of teasing - I say, "oh my, your just like my brother - avocado haters unite!". I didn't say this meanly - I didn't call her names, I was just poking gently in fun ...
She LOST her shit!
She started yelling at me and accusing me of being a horrible person and that just because she didn't like avocados, that there was nothing wrong with her and in fact people who did like avocados where slightly suspicious and on and on in that vein.
I - and the others who had the unfortunate luck to witness this (E missed the whole thing thank goodness) - where dumbstruck.
Not wanting this scene to go on and especially not wanting E to get involved, as soon as she paused for a breath, I humbly begged her pardon and appologized. Ignoring me, she continued on her barrage of abuse. I again appologized and asked her point blank to accept my appology.
She refused. Quote "I will not accept an appology from the likes of you." and then she walked away (only to return later acting like nothing had happened).
The others and I just looked at each other. The all offered their opinion that really I hadn't provoked her and that she was just crazy.
Crazy or not - you don't refuse my appology twice and expect me to be cool about it.
So last night - as I was remembering her - I could tell she was remembering me.
The event sounded really fun - to bad I'm gonna have to cancel now.
