Black. Purple. It starts with the feet. Aunt Joan had it. From there, the legs. Death works its way upwards and attacks the lower organs first. Kidney, liver, bladder. It crosses over the intestines, but does not harm them. It will push up to the remainder of her lungs next and finally making a grip on her heart. Her mind is telling death that she's succumbed to it. That after 93 years, she is ready for this. We've been waiting. She's been waiting. And besides her raspy short breath, we now have a clear sign that death hasn't overlooked her.
