TONIGHT I went to see KLAXONS at the Kasbah in Coventry. I was a bit eurgh about going because it is Coventry, and although I knew Sel and his friend were meant to be going they weren't able to at the last minute which made me quite annoyed, not at them but general bad luck, but I decided to go anyway cause it was kind of expensive. And I am very glad I went.
I got there and I enjoyed the outside of the venue, it looks very nice and still says COLLISEUM on the roof. And it had a thing like a shop (vague sorry). There were some people outside including JASON from the Metronomy and LOTP forums who I had seen at Metronomy and The Horrors but I didn't talk to him. Then after a while we went inside and it looks amazing in there as well, the wallpaper is lovely and they have a FISH TANK! Oh and I saw Jason's friend who is called Matthew Trickett, which I actually knew before through some vague mutual friends and the fact that he lives in Bromsgrove. He actually added me on myspace once but he didn't seem to recognise me so I decided not to say anything.
And then the main part of the venue is EVEN BETTER. It's actually gorgeous, it has stuff I don't really know the names of hanging from the ceiling and nice balconies and fairy lights all across the ceiling and nice lights in general. LOVELY.
I waited and it was very boring and I was surrounded by indie kids, I wish someone had been with me.
The first band I don't know the name of because the singer slurred when he was saying it, but they were quite nice. Synthpop. It was nothing new but it was pretty well done, although I would say more on the potential side of things. They had two girls and one of them looked like Twiggy and the other one seemed a bit shy. It's good that lately I seem to have been seeing more bands with girls in them - Metronomy, S.C.U.M., Factory Floor, because I rarely do.
Yeah anyway. One of Klaxons' roadies checked their mics by saying the name of the respective member of the band. Does that usually happen?
Then I watched Klaxons. And they were AMAZING. The old stuff was on form and the new stuff was just incredible - I'm glad I never listened to that recording of Calm Trees much because hearing it was just wonderful, out of the new ones I think that and the one called Venus were the ones I liked the best. I was disappointed in the lack of movement in the crowd to the new songs, but everyone was suitably enthusiastic about the old ones. Jamie was actually quite attractive. Simon had long hair so he was like a ROCKER. James had the best hair in the world and I really hope someone gets a picture of it online soon because I want to show it to the hairdresser and say, "I want my hair like this" cause it was the best. Although I'm pretty sure he used hairpsray, but the way it was cut was how I want it. And I didn't see much of Steffan which was sad, but he was very cute. I loved all their clothes as usual. I'd like to dress like them sometimes.
YEAH. It was lovely, it was really fun and people danced without it being painful like at The Horrors. I just wish I'd had someone to share the experience with!
It finished very early at 10pm and I went outside and waited for my dad to pick me up. Jason and friends came out, and Matthew stood there so I caught his eye and smiled, and he came up to me and we exchanged a few words and he introduced himself. My impressions of him were formed a couple of years ago when some people who were my friends back then had weird disagreements with him, but he was quite nice to me. Perhaps if we see each other again I will talk to him.
Then I came home the end. I'm considering going to Bestival.
