Thunder!

On Sunday I went with the other half to see Thunder at the Astoria.
And they were awesome!

The Astoria was completely sold out, there could be no more people in there if they'd tried, but fortunately we got an excellent place where we could see the stage clearly. I'll come back to the support band in a second but let me just say for now they did their thing and went off. Then the lights went down, the crowd roared... and someone who was a dead ringer for my friend's dad leapt out along with the rest of the band and started belting out some marvellous rock music.

I knew they were good at getting the crowd going, but I didn't realise how much. The singer, who incidentally was more bouncy than any silver haired man has any business being, had us all in the palm of his hand from beginning to end. When they belted out "Low Life in High Places" we were all singing along merrily following instructions given by the band. Brilliant. Alice Cooper no longer occupies the spot of "best gig I've been to".

As I said earlier special mention must go to the support act - Lauren Harris. This is the daughter of Iron Maiden bass player Steve Harris, and she's scarily quite good, as is her band. Sadly they are capitalising on her name which in a way is a shame because they really could stand on their own two feet. Keep an eye out for them if you're into a wee bit of rock from time to time.
