Character name: Fran
Series: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Weapon Form: Bladed trident

Why your character should be a Weapon:

Fran is passive through and through: whatever he does, it will be due to an order by his master or boss. As stated before, he’s not one to take part in physical fights (due to being rather skinny and lacking muscles). Rather, he likes to sit on the sidelines and commentate. Though brilliant, he’s a bit lazy and unmotivated, so all the better to have another do work, especially once he has lost his illusionary powers. He’s used to being used by people in all situations in life; such is life being a kidnapped, passive, replacement illusionist on the bottom of the varia totem pole. Plus, turning into a weapon will be so cool.

He basically defines the expression “tool”.

What is your character's Weapon form?: As a student of Mukuro Rokudo, of course he’s going to take after his master, but not without adding a little cool flair of his own. Fran will be a trident (similar to this one: http://www.gods-inc.de/macavity/IsleOfShadows/weapons/trident.jpg), but with a few key additions. As he always has those stupid knives stuck in his back at home, they’re going to be stuck in his weapon form as well. Instead of the three prongs at the end of the trident, each one will be a blade that resembles a throwing knife, the right and left ones turning outward for slicing/stabbing. After all, his words do cut like knives. At the posterior end of the trident, there will be a tiny froggy head end to decorate the end, because he can’t go anywhere without the hat, now can he?

Fran’s weapon abilities are under the blanket ability of casting Illusions. As a world-renowned illusionist back home, Fran’s abilities are rather powerful yet difficult to use.

True to his illusionary nature, this ability of Fran’s allows the meister or Fran to shift and change the appearance and physics (such as causing the opponent to believe they are floating) of an area to their will within an illusion cast to their opponent’s mind from their own imagination. In addition, they can exude an aura of any emotion they please, be it fear or frustration. The area that can be manipulated by this ability starts at a radius of 30 feet with no souls, and grows 10 feet in radius for every 10 souls Fran collects.

While this ability allows the meister to change the landscape of a battleground, the changes are merely an illusion cast to their opponent's mind that can be broken. For example, if the meister changes the landscape so that there is no gravity, the feeling that they are floating is only in their opponent's mind and will not affect any bystanders. However, the emotions that the meister exudes onto the battle will be able to affect the soul wavelength of their opponent in reality, if the opponent is at the same level of strength or weaker than Fran and his meister.

The meister cannot cast illusions to hurt their opponents physically, only to change the landscape or the opponent's perception of reality. For example, if Fran's meister were to create the illusion of the battleground being made of lava, the opponent would feel heat and be able to be burned, but these effects would not be real and would disappear once the illusion changes or breaks. Fran’s meister can be hurt by these illusions as well- illusionary fire will burn everyone if they do not mentally guard themselves against it.

Still, if Fran has collected enough souls and the meister enough experience, this ability can be used to kill his opponent by simply attempting to overwhelm their brain with these illusions into believing that they should be dead, even if the physical wounds disappear after the battle. Using the lava example, Fran’s meister can flood their opponent with illusionary lava in an attempt to kill them. This can only happen after Fran collects over 30 souls and uses an extreme amount of mental energy from his meister- only those who truly wish to kill their opponent can and even then does it entirely depend on the strength of the opponent. This will only result in the opponent fainting if Fran’s meister does not have strong enough killing intent and will fail entirely if they do not have the intent at all. However, if the opponent manages to break through the overwhelming illusion mentally, they will not die nor faint.

When Fran first resonates with his meister and they have few souls, this ability is hard to use and easy to fail at due to its huge need for focus and the right mentality. Generally, the more souls that Fran collects, the less focus one needs to keep this ability active. However, it causes mental strain and exhaustion for Fran and his meister, and if the illusion is kept up for too long, it will disappear once the meister gets distracted by anything in the slightest, be it wounds or even a simple change in focus. By the end of the battle, if illusions of this sort are used for more than 15-30 minutes (depending on the meister), Fran’s meister will certainly become unconscious due to the mental strain.
