another little thought...

Is there such thing as choice? Why should there be? When you think of it, every time you make a 'choice,' you're under the influence of some desire, obligation, necessity, etc.

For example, if you offer a starving man food, he accepts because food is a necessity for his survival, which, is the biological urge that drives us.

Offer someone something appealing, and they accept out of desire. Even if they refuse, there is always a reason why, because it is in human nature that we always require reason to justify our actions.

So, it comes as a conclusion that everytime we make a choice we are under the influence of some reason... but, to be under the influence of something, doesn't that mean to be within means of control? And if your choice is controlled, can it really be a choice? Afterall, control contradicts freedom, and freedom + choice go hand in hand.

So it brings up another matter; freedom. The more you speculate about freedom, can it too exist? I have no clue where I heard this from, but someone said that freedom was an illusion created by those with power to blind those without it. Is that not true? We go about our daily lives under the belief we are free, but at any given moment those with power can take away whatever they desire. How do we know this? Well, simple forms of governments are good examples. Step out of line and they'll simply push you back. Commit an act that is not appealing to them, and they will destroy the very foundations you stand upon.

So what governs those with power? Well, there's always something higher up that governs that which stands below it. And for those who believe in God, God is the finality of the 'power ladder', in the sense that you cant go beyond, looking for something higher up.

We're never truely free unless we can perform whatever we desire, until we are freed of every law, those both natural and the ones we have created ourselves. But such a thing requires omnipotency... doesn't it? Which is probably something I shouldn't even attempt to fathom.
