Here I am, a space cowboy, looking out for love and logic

Last night I went with my cousin Geoff and my brother Eoin to see U2 and it was the best night of my life hands down. I doubt anything will ever compare to it.

We left home at about 3 and drove into the city. There was no way in hell we were going to get a park any where near the stadium but E knew a sneaky spot we could park for free.

While walking there I spotted the very tip of The Claw.

(Eoin on the left, Geoff on the right)

E grabbed the camera off me and got a closer one.

When we got there I noticed that the GA lines were under the trees which I was happy about because it got to 31 degrees yesterday and those poor people would have had no cover other wise. Got myself a shirt (white with blindfolded cherub) then we walked round to our gate. Only had to wait about 10 minutes during which time a dude came out and told us about the no bottle lids rule. Got in fairly quick, grabbed some food & drinks then went to our seats.

Took this as soon as I got there.

We had about to 2 hours to wait so we took some pics with The Claw

and chatted, cracked stupid jokes and just watched the people slowing amble in. We were trying to help the security guys at one point by shouting at people who were trying to get into the GA section where they weren't meant to. They'd get to the gate, we'd yell "NOT THAT WAY!", they'd ignore us then we'd laugh when security saw them & sent them back. We also had one of the event staff come and tell us that we weren't allowed to use our cameras. At the time E was only trying to zoom in on the helicopter above us to see which news station it was from. We sneaked pics when she wasn't looking after that until it got dark.

They had random music playing for a while & I laughed when 'Viva La Vida' came on because last year at Coldplay they had played 'Magnificent'.

Jay Z came on at 6.30 and kicked ass! The boys were very happy.

They actually played a few things I knew including one which cause me to ask my bro if it was bad that I knew it because it had been on Glee.

U2 came on at 8.20 and I pretty much spent the rest of the night flailing and singing has loud as I could or shouting the words which is what happened during Elevation & Vertigo.

Bono tried to pronounce some of our more tricky suburb names which cracked everyone up then he compared each band member to a member of the Australian cricket team. Apparently, Adam is Shane Warne, Larry is Adam Gilchrist, Edge is Michael Hussey & Bono is David "Boonie" Boon. Then Bono said that we were all there to stick it the Brits which got a massive cheer.

A girl named Emily got brought up on stage during 'In A Little While' and got to slow dance on one of the bridges with Bono.

I was sad that we didn't get 'Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me' but we did get 'North Star' which totally made up for it.

There's no audio up for it yet but i'm getting it as soon as there is.

E took just over 200 photos, a lot of which were blurry because he was trying to take them faster than his zoom could keep up. I have a sneaky suspicion that E is a Bono!boy considering how many shots of him there were lol. I narrowed them down to about 170 so here's the best of them.

Not only did E managed to get all those pics, he even filmed 'One' without me noticing until I went through the camera later. No idea why he picked that song though. My guess is, it was because the boys weren't moving around so much.

A lot of people started to leave before the end but as I knew what the final song would be, we stayed. We even stayed afterward for 'Rocket Man' and the footage from the space station. Little bro weirdly held my hand as we left because he didn't want to lose me in the crowd. Last time he did that, he was about 4.

Got another shirt before I left, this time a navy one with the dates on the back. As we got into the car, a live version of Beautiful Day came on the radio so we cranked it and sang along. Traffic was insane as expected and we had to do a huge loop to avoid it. Still managed to get home before midnight.

Got up this morning to find my voice had survived. My only issue is a sore right shoulder.

And finally, here are my shirts:

That's all folks :D

Edit: Bonus pic I found on Geoff's Facebook that I kinda love a lot.
