I keep meaning to post about stuff but I never get around to it. I may still post about the drama that ended November (in short: car/ex boyfriend/work stuff) but not right now. This post is for the seasonal drama that ends the year.
Anyway, last day at work for the year was 16th & since then I've done pretty much nothing and by nothing I mean played a lot of 'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim'. My mother is naturally not pleased by this as she wants to go out shopping all the time (she doesn't really have the funds to do it so at least if I go with her, she doesn't but all the things). I have been out with her a few days to keep her happy though.
I was invited out to lunch with my boss, her hubby & her hubby's staff on the 21st but I declined. Not my thing but my boss doesn't understand that so I told her Mum had plans. We were out that day anyway.
Christmas Eve I was meant to go to my favourite sister's house but decided to stay home and watch part 2 of 'Going Postal' instead. Her kids are annoying so I felt this was a good plan. My folks were asked where I was & Mum told them I was sick. When they got home, both parents complained about the kids behaviour which made me laugh.
Christmas morning involved a sleep in which I needed after being up till 1 am a few too many nights in a row. Once I was up, presents were opened which actually didn't feel right at all because this is the first Christmas without my little brother living at home.
Around 11 am we headed out to lunch at my little brothers girlfriends parents house. I hadn't been told about this until about a month before. I naturally tried to get out of it because everyone knows I don't do strangers but I was firmly told I had to go. I made sure my protest was noted though. Turned out to be not as bad as I thought it would be. Her parents were lovely & friendly & her little brother was kinda like me. Our siblings are the outgoing once while we are the quiet homebodies. We didn't speak much but he seemed nice. (Before you ask,
frankenshane, no I'm not going there. He's younger than you.)
We got home around 4 pm to find my older brother & his family waiting for us. They had stopped in to see us on there way back down south. We had been hoping to beat them home but it wasn't to be.
They were only here until about half 6 but if they'd stayed any longer I would have lost it. I love my brother dearly but his younger two children are monsters. They thought it would be fun game to sneak around behind me and pull my hair when I wasn't looking. Unfortunately for them, I'm always looking when it comes to them because I don't trust them as far as I can kick them so I knew which one did it straight away. His eldest (technically second eldest but that's another story) is a great kid and would be even better if he didn't have his brothers (or his mother, for that matter) to contend with. He's only 8 but he's a real smart kid. He & I at one point where looking at the weather map of the cyclone they almost had up north and he was telling about the cyclones on Jupiter. A lot like his dad that way.
We were glad of the peace & quiet after they left. I was able to watch the last episode of Merlin without interruption.
Boxing Day was marked only by the Doctor Who Christmas special. Not bad but I've seen better. Disappointed by the lack of Doctor/Rory hugs.
Fast forward to New Years Eve because nothing but Skyrim & shopping happened til then.
Instead of partying (not our style anyway), we decided to go to the movies. Good plan as it wasn't overly packed. We had a lot of oldies in with us and at first I thought I was going to be the youngest one there but 3 teens came in with their parents just before the lights went down. We went & saw 'War Horse' and we loved it. Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston are lush in uniform. I came so close to crying in a couple of bits. Mum did cry right at the end. Even Dad got a little weepy and he doesn't normally do that.
The only complaint we had about the night was that there was too many ads before the movie. In the space of 25 minutes we had 4 movie trailer and the rest was ads we see on TV pretty much everyday and some shitty behind the scenes interview thing with the lead casts of Puss In Boots & Twilight.
We were home by half 10. Mum & Dad went to bed and I came here and got my lists sorted out. Midnight came and I could hear the fire works from the oval at a nearby high school. Then there was a loud bang outside. I went out in time to see a lone fire work go up the other end of the street. Nothing happened for ages so I went back in then just as I sat down, heaps of them went off. I'd locked the door again so by the time I went out they'd stopped again. Spotted a Police Helicopter hovering nearby not long after. The people must have seen it too because they didn't let off any more.
Woke up New Years Day dizzy & sick for no apparent reason. We had been planning to go to the movies again and see "We Bought A Zoo' but we didn't in the end. Stayed in my room all morning reading which was about the only thing I could do without leaning over too much. Felt a little better by lunch but I didn't eat despite being hungry because I didn't think I'd keep it down. Got on here and finally posted an entry for
backseat_impala which I hadn't done in about a year. Really need to do them more often.
Today has been another lazy one filled only by Sherlock. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet but it was glorious. Might just have to watch it again tonight. My folks are seeing it tonight too. Mum is very happy that she doesn't have to wait til February like everyone else.
That's all there is, there isn't any more :D
