OMG I'm so SO thrilled with this development! Honestly I had to stop reading halfway through, thinking that things were going to go badly, but once I picked it up again I love where it went. I really liked the way John came to his conclusion; while it was a little "under duress" due to Rodney's conviction about the situation, I think John would have only thought (and felt) that deeply about the matter after being forced to do so -- as he noted, he tended to procrastinate on the big decisions. I love how brave Rondey was putting it all on the line for what he knew was right for himself and for John, too. Especially given what he saw of his own father's life, it made perfect sense.
What an exciting update! Are Rodney and Cam both going to be on board? I sense rocky waters ahead, honestly, but I kind of have this fantasy where at some point after years together raising their kids that they come to love each other as much as they do John, even if it will always be different. (Although tbh I can see Rodney totally crushing on Cam once he's gotten over the jealousy thing! LOL!)
Thank you for the long comment. I think that John rarely makes decisions without being "under duress" so it's good that Rodney put the pressure on him.
I think there are still issues for Rodney and Cam. I'm not sure that Cam and Rodney will ever get to a place where they want each other romantically, to be honest. I think they just don't have anything in common - especially their worldviews. But Rodney gets attached to people and grows to love them even if he doesn't like them. He and Ronon really only have a love of food in common, but Rodney is incredibly loyal to Ronon in Sateda.
Cam kind of likes everyone a little bit and I think that he will absolutely be able to get along with Rodney and find something to like about him. But I think that he's actually more likely than Rodney to hold a grudge for the way things went down before. Cam really believes is good and bad, right and wrong and I think its harder for him to pardon unacceptable behavior.
Of course, I don't doubt that Rodney would like to have sex with Cam, but that's another matter.
