dream

Incredibly detailed and somewhat strange dream last night, or really this morning in that half hour between alarm clock rings:
I was in Haymarket, but it wasn't actually Haymarket, and I think my mom was cooking in the kitchen, and I found this kitchen and an attached bathroom that I'd been shown when I first arrived but that I had somehow forgotten about and forgotten how to access, and then through there I went and found the employees lounge (not sure employees of what, exactly). They were all Black and they were sitting around on these red leather booths. And then there was this thing nicknamed the wailing wall on the wall of the lounge which had random things rolled up stuck into cracks and I think there were lots of pictures of old Haymarketers and celebrations which all had this very 1950s look, even the newer pictures; celebrations in our living room (which was a fairly grand drawing room in the dream) with people like Dean Boyer and other stuffy middle-aged white men types.

Then my mother was meeting with a woman whose named I've now forgotten, something like Linda Willis, and a news segment about her flashed, it talked (I think?) about her being a lawyer and perhaps doing things like rock climbing and in some way traveling or working in the Soviet Union, and never getting married. I think she talked with me about never getting married. And then she and my mother and I were at a street fair booth on our block in New York and then I went over to another booth with Maria and started looking at something, maybe silverware?

Then I woke up (except, actually I was still dreaming, it was a fake wake-up) next to somebody and there were people in the room and basically a lot of people had suddenly found out that I was sleeping sometimes (as in literally sleeping) with the person that I was sleeping with, and they were asking us questions that we didn't know how to answer because we just didn't really know what we were doing, it wasn't like we were having sex or were in love with each other or anything, so we just sort of joked around about it, but it was a bit awkward.
