I'm vaguely afraid that with all the meeting we are missing rigth now, we'll be falling way behind on our novel writing schedule.
Hence, I decided that it might be best if I were to simply post the creative writing tasks I had planned for the August meeting (that did not actually take place). I will post one exercise each week, to give people time to write something. :-)
So, here's the first one:
Alphabet Dialogue
- At the top of the page, write out the alphabet.
- You are going to write a dialogue between two people. You do not know who they are, where they are or what is happening.
- Begin each sentence with a letter of the alphabet, starting with A and proceeding through to Z.
- For Q, X and Z you can break the rule: If you can't find a word beginning with the letter, it can appear somewhere in the word.
- See what clues the dialogue gives and what questions it prompts: Who might the two characters be? What could their relationship be? What things might happen in the story? What might the story be about?
Have fun. And feel free to post your results if you want to. :-)
