Here is the first task for April. This one is dealing with the characters for your novel project:
Write an octopoem about one of your main characters (or all of them if you want to).
What is an octopoem?
An octopoem is about finding eight images that fit the person that the poem is about. These images must also fit into eight categories (not necessarily in this order):
month
plant
smell
colour
clothes
building
landscape
treat
A poem about a grandma could hence read like this:
I know someone who is white, all drained of color
A crisp December afternoon
A drafty shack
Amidst a balding forest
A dusty coat
The smell of mothballs
The last dry cookie in the box
A knotted oak
This task can help you get to know your main characters even better. But most importantly: It's about having fun while working on this gigantic project called 'your novel'.
Feel free to post your octopoems on your blogs. I'm looking forward to reading them. ;-)
