Well, sounds like I have 6 weeks left - 4 weeks from the notice they have to give me, and 2 for the weeks of vacation I have left. Plus the unpaid wages they still owe, I suppose ( Read more... )

Well, that's the thing. We charged $149/hr - but we tried to focus mostly on business, rather than home users. Some home users were still willing to pay that, but I know that a lot of guys in at least one area were charging $40 - though we had to fix some of their stuff up, so... I dunno.

*nods* I really have no experience there, I'm afraid. You probably don't want to charge too much until you've built up a good reputation, but OTOH you need to be able to pay your own bills.

Are there any start-up advisors you could talk to? Someone at your local job agency, perhaps?

I should probably clarify, though, that the times on the "after hours" thing were more of a closing time (instead of 5pm) - not an opening time. Too bad you can't edit polls -_-

Ah, I see! Yeah, I didn't you think you meant you'd be closed before 7pm (or 9pm), but I thought you meant that you'd still offer service after that time.

Either way, in this case, service up to 9pm might actually be something to think about... or maybe strike a compromise and offer it until 8pm.

And you're welcome. :)

I don't know about start-up advisors... never even considered the existence of such things... though I'll have a look. Possibly an accountant... Hmm.....

Probably can't hurt - I wouldn't be surprised if the unemployment agency had people like that, seeing as how they, too, will have an interest in people not being unemployed.
