"I'm investing in something I believe in. I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels."
- Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Speaker of the House, on Meet The Press, 08/24/08
Is it really? I was under the impression that natural gas was a fossil fuel. I guess all the education I bought was for nothing.
I assume she meant wind power was an alternative to fossil fuels, since she was referring to her monetary investment in T. Boone Pickins' wind and gas plan. Still, I prefer to lump this in with the "nukular" people -- if you can't learn to pronounce nuclear power you shouldn't be allowed to control nuclear power.
What's the alternative to a spin-doctoring, informationally-challenged Congress?
You do realize this means the person who led the bipartisan cut-off of tax subsidies to Bush-backed alternative energy incentives (the only reasonable thing he's done in his eight years in office) now, a) controls where the next round of incentives will go; and, b) has personal investments in a plan that needs Federal subsidies to succeed?
Conflict of interests? Check. Corrrupt? Probably. Worse than Cheney and Haliburton? Well, at least she's unlikely to invade anybody over it.
