So after much drama (compliments of my father) on Friday, I left my team at 10:30 Friday night feeling, like them, disappointed and unprepared for what was to come the following morning(thanks Mandy for making me feel better =)). It’s ironic that the last time I shed physical emotion in such a way was Freshman year and for similar reasons, Odyssey. To our surprise, spontaneous proved to be one of our strongest points that day. Despite the fact that one of our judges was James, it was only necessary to look at the judge to his left to notice we would result victors in spontaneous. We were winners not only in that, but Style and Long Term as well. In fact, we made it under 8 minutes during our performance even thought our practices minutes before had been seconds over that time. It was a glorious moment. Our team (or the other two teams I was in before) hadn’t won first place since we’ve been together. However, Saturday night we were baptized with a blue ribbon and became members of that elite group (We got first place freshman year, but that was by default, we were the only team at regionals competing in our division.). We expected to get first in at least one of the events, but we won in everything! It was insane…
Thanks to all of you who came to see us, it was awesome to see so many familiar faces in the audience!
Now we need to take a break before we start an intensive training for State Competition since Ironwood Ridge is a worthy competitor and received 2nd place (did I mention we beat Ironwood and Vail in EVERYTHING?!?). Besides, competition with each other will only help us both in going to World Finals, which would be awesome if we both made it since Collin is cool and he’s in the Ironwood team (WF are in Bouulder this year and I REALLY want to go to Colorado!).
On a more random note, I found weed in the locker room during 4th period. You know how urinals and toilets have that hole at the bottom were it all goes when you flush? Well, I guess one of the urinals in the locker room doesn’t have enough pressure so that if you throw your gum in it and you flush, the gum will stay in that hole and you can see it. Well Friday I went to make use of it and noticed that besides a piece of gum, there was something that looked like oregano covering it. I’m sure it wasn’t oregano, especially when half of the students in the 4th period talk about drugs and sex when they’re dressing out. So whenever you are in the boys PE locker room use the urinal closest to the sink to get rid of your stash.
I’m sure that was disturbing but I thought it was really funny.
Oh man, we got first place! It's still exciting. Excuse me while I go stare at my blue shiny.
